Chapter 4: Battles' Calling
The next couple of weeks, Shiro spent his time with Mariko training with Slayer Gundam. At this point, the government had learnt of Slayer Gundam's existance and sent a soldier over to see what Shiro and Mariko were doing. Shiro told the soldiers he was going to enter the battle and of course win the tournament. After speaking with the Leader of Neo Hong Kong, Wong Yunfat, they were grudgingly accepted. Shiro later heard of Major Ulube saying an automatic "yes" to the proposal of him fighting, which puzzeled him to no end.
The Neo Japanese government gave Slayer Gundam a spot of ground to train at before the 13th Gundam fight began. Everyday, along with Mariko and Mr. Akechi, he would go to train. Mariko and her father would monitor the Gundam and look for anything system-wise to modify for the upcoming battles. Shiro, on the other hand, concentrated on learning every aspect of the Gundam to master its controlls.
"Man, this is great. The Gundam runs so fluedly and it is easier and easier to get the Mobile Trace Suit on each time I get into the cockpit!" Shiro exclaimed.
A small screen popped up in the 360 degree view showing Mariko.
"Everything is working correctly from the inside, Shiro?" She asked.
"Yeah, everything is running smoothly." Shiro answered happily as he performed a high kick against an imaginary oponent. The Gundam responded in turn with the same kick as Shiro, like a mirror image.
"Great, then everything is going perfectly." Mariko smiled through the camera to Shiro.
"Yeah, and it is thanks to you Mariko." Shiro blushed a bit and continued to train.
------------------------------------
Ten days later the next week, Neo Japan's Leader came to the house with a group of associates. Major Ulube was not with them. They knocked on the door of the large hangar that Slayer Gundam stood, ready for battle. When the doors opened, he walked in. Upon seeing Shiro, Mariko, and Mr. Akechi, he walked forward and bowed. They bowed back to him lower.
"It seems that the 13th Gundam Fight is about to start Shiro Matsuka, Kariko Akechi. You both must go to Earth tommorow for the beginning, as you are Slayer Gundam's crew. That will be a day after Domon Kasshu and Rain Mikamura, Shining Gundam's crew leave. As are the new rules set forth by Wong Yunfat, you two will not fight each other, as you are both from the same colony." said Neo Japan's Leader.
"Understood." Mariko and Shiro said.
When the leader left and all was quiet once more, Mariko finally broke the silence.
"Well, we had better get packing for Earth, we will be there a while."
"Yeah." Shiro responded.
Shiro went to the guest room of Mariko's house which he had been staying for the days since his parents died. He packed all the clothes he had into a large suitcase and put it into the Core Lander, which is a vehicle that attaches to the Gundam bringing another openeing into the cockpit for dangerous circumstances. It is also just like a normal hover car. Mariko loaded her stuff into the Core Lander after Shiro and then they both went inside to wait for the day to go by.
-----------------------------
The next day came bearing sun and a light rain, which was quite rare in Neo Japan. Shiro stood outside next to the Core Lander. Mariko came out of her house with Mr. and Mrs. Akechi. They all said there goodbye's with tears shed on Mrs. Akechi's part. Shiro and Mariko got into the Core Lander and waved as they sped off toward the spaceport of Neo Japan. Upon arriving, The Leader and Major Ulube were there waiting for them. Behind them was the towering Slayer Gundam, which had been transported earlier that day. Hastily, The Leader gave some last minute talk and then sent the two on their way into a large spacecraft. Mariko had Slayer Gundam walk up ontp the spacecraft which was meant for Gundam Transport and large pieces of shell closed around them protecting them from the Earth's atmosphere.
When the ship took off, a loud rushing sound came first followed by the roaring of the rockets. Mariko and Shiro looked at each other aprehensivly and then looked out the windows at the starts and the distant sun until they hit the Earth's surface.
