| You know it.
To be honest, I don't think zombies can run. Think about it; an infection takes over the body, and won't know how to use the human muscles correctly. It may learn to run after many years of a Zombie Apocalypse, but that isn't happening.
Sure, it makes for an interesting movie and game, but it's not realistic.

| wow, I already love this discussion!
I agree completely. I think that Zombies should "walk" not run. Kinda like on Dead Rising. They shouldn't be able to walk completely normal either though, more like they are trudging as though with a great wieght.

| well, if youve ever read the zombie survival guide, the infection that would do the "zombification" if you will only uses the VERY needed parts of the brain to move. The infection doesnt use enough of the brain to get any type of balance, or better use of muscles and different bones, thus making them have to walk. if I got to choose though they would walk because it would make them easier targets for me to hit them with a gun ; ) | |

| Actually the way I look at it a zombie starts slow and limpy but since they are always looking for brains when they get more they will be able to run. But then with the ability to run and hold a pencil like a 5 year old a zombie wouldn't know what to do. Would a zombie need to kill more people for more brains? No! Of course not! So the way I look at it zombies are slow at first but as they eat more brains the more they become like the person they where before infected! OMG.....Do you know what this means?!? All those zombies we've killed....all of them are regular people just trying to go back to the way they were....Zombies are people too! Zombies deserve the right to go back to their normal self and contribute to society once again! I believe that zombies are misjudged and should have the right to eat human brains and be whole once more! | |

| I could see them lunging themselves at you, similar to the Flood in Halo, but they shouldn't jog, unless they had a lot of trouble doing it. | |

| Lunging....yes....The flood idea...good. The flood move kinda slow but they have that really powerful lunge/jump thing. | |

| Technically, they shouldn't even be able to run.For one thing, being dead and all, Rigor Mortis will have set in, making the joints very stiff. If a zombie tried to run like that, his legs would fall off. Also, the brain generally only has the primary functions working, i.e. hunting, eating, walking, etc. | |

| Well since I've seen every George A. Romero zombie flick, and read both The Zombie Survival Guide, and World War Z by Max Brooks. I think Zombies should no doubt walk, stumble, crawl, and anything else that would give them that slow haunting death step. All zombies should walk, since their bodies are decaying, and some later are beginning to decompose (Day of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead George A. Romero versions). I've played Left4Dead, and I was disapointed that the zombies ran. Unlike 28 Days Later, and 28 Weeks Later where the infected were not Zombies, but just infected people with a disease, that worked for them running. But not Zombies. Oh and also, zombies eat everything, not just the brain | |

Because of the muscles still being in constant use, I don't believe Rigor Mortis could set in, as the body is technically still alive.

| I think that Dead Rising portrayed the zombies almost perfectly in the game, although they get a bit faster as you progress through the levels. | |

That's slightly understandable, as they are likely to adept and speed up as time goes on. It would be longer than 2 days, though.

| Because for a species to adept it should take more than one weekend.
Unless, the Parasitic disease is extremely advanced.
