INTRODUCTION

Saboteur is a new open world "sandbox" style game in development by Pandemic Studios and currently slated for a 2009 release on the Xbox 360, PC and the PlayStation 3. It will be published by Electronic Arts. In Saboteur, players take on the role of Sean, a normal Irishman who happens to be in Paris, France at the same time the Nazis are rolling in to take it over. The purpose of this thread is to give people the most ammount of information on the game as possible. Consider this a Saboteur wikia. With your help this thread will grow!

STORYLINE

Sean is a racecar driver from Ireland who loves three things, his friends, his car and his women. Whilst living in Paris, however, the German Army takes the city over as part of their occupation of France. One German officer and a few of his colleagues, find Sean's friends one night and brutally murder them. This drives Sean to pursue the killers to exact his revenge.

Conflict: There is conflict in who exactly the Germans kill. Some sources say it's one of his friends, some say a group of his friends, some say his family, some say both his family and friends, some say it's something totally different. Until Pandemic speaks on this matter, it's anybody's guess.

ENEMIES

German Soldier - The basic infantry of the Wehrmacht. Seen mostly armed with an MP-40 or on occasion, an STG-44.

Medium Officer - So far only one screen is available of this enemy. They wear whats called a Garrison cap.

German Officer - Officers command squads of soldiers. Killing them rewards you with will to fight. They are often armed with a simple Walther P-38 but sometimes have more heavy weapons.

Gestapo - According to Eurogamer, the secret police will in fact chase you via car should you try and escape them. Car chases are a staple of any sandbox game, are they not?

- Enemies will be able to grab a hold of you and keep you in place while their friends attack you.

Chair - Its just concept art, however several articles have stated that the player will be able to use various objects in the world to defend himself.

SABOTAGE TOOLS

Hatchet - Only seen in the trailer so don't get your hopes up.

Sledge Hammer - Only seen in the trailer.

Wire Cutters - Only seen in the trailer.

Pipe Wrench - Only seen in the trailer.

Demolition Charge - Only seen in the trailer but likely going to be used as the chief sabotage item in the game.

HAND TO HAND COMBAT

Left Hand Punch - A basic combat move.

Right Hand Punch - Another basic combat move. Can be strung together in a combo.

Grabbing And Prepping - It may or may not be possible to grab an enemy and hold him while you prep a stick of dynamite for demolition.

Grabbing And Throwing - Grab an enemy them toss him into anything. Toss him at a wall, toss him at a car, toss him at a tree, toss him at other enemies!

Grabbing And Punching - Grab onto an enemy and hold him in place while you beat him to a bloody pulp.

Choke - Slowly drain an enemies health, its a brutal way to die, but efficient.

Stealth Kills - Quickest way to achieve a stealth kill, sneak up on an enemy from behind and snap! That or you will see one of the many other stealth kill animations.

- snapping an enemies neck
- tapping a guard on the shoulder then sucker punching them in the face

Groin Kick - The best way to immobilize any unarmored male enemy. Keep him in pain while fending off his allies!

Headbutt - A really heavy attack that can really hurt enemies. Its a dirty move but who really cares?

Elbowing - Hitting somebody in the face with your elbow is a good way to make them cry.

CONFIRMED MISSIONS/JOBS

Most of the missions revolve around Sean trying to get his revenge on the German officers, this takes up the majority of the game, however Secondary Objectives are also available for the player to go on at his or her own will.

So far these missions/objectives/structures have been confirmed
- stopping a Nazi weapons train
- assassinating a Nazi leader while he's giving a speech at a rally
- fist fight on the highest level of the Eiffel Tower
- sabotageing a bridge
- you will be able to accept jobs offered by the French Resistance
- some missions are unlocked by talking to various NPCs
- completeing missions unlocks new weapons and skill-sets

CHARACTERS

Sean Devlin - Sean is a proffesional racecar driver from Ireland based off real-life racecar driver William Grover-Williams. He is an adrenaline junkie who has never walked away from a barroom fight or walked away from a drink.
Outfits
- Brown jacket (default skin)
- No jacket (possibly from an early build or an in-game option)
- Other costumes will be available for disguise

Derker(sp?) - The main Nazi in the game, Derker is Sean's nemesis, the one who murdered his friends and family. According to GameInformer, he runs a racecar circuit that Sean participates in.

ORGANIZATIONS

Wehrmacht - The German Army is the main enemy in the game. You will be fighting them, hiding from them, destroying them, shooting them or assassinating them 90% of the time.

Maquis - The French Resistance has gone inactive at the start of the game. However, liberate some areas and they will come out of hiding to help you in your quest for revenge.

Special Operations Executive - It is unclear what role the SOE will play in the game but the Pandemic staff has stated they will be included, perhaps having one of their agents as a supporting cast memer.

French Civilians - They are afraid of you at first but liberate enough areas and raise your will to fight and they will cheer you on, become enthusiastic and even help you fight the German occupiers.

Allied Army - The Allied soldiers will make brief appearances in the game and fight alongside you.

RUMORS AND RELEASE DATES

Release Date - Originally Saboteur was supposed to be released in 2008, however it was delayed and is now estimated by Gamespot to be released somewhere between April 1st 2009 and March 31st 2010. This is just speculation and no official release date is known.

Rumor - Schindler's List was reported to be one of Pandemic's main inspirations for the game but this was denied by the development team, saying that it had never even come to mind during the planning stages.

Rumor - Multiplayer is being evaluated by the development team.

SOUNDTRACK

The soundtrack for the game has been heavily influenced by 40's and 50s jazz music to fit the theme of Paris. As such the player will hear this for the majority of the game.

The WTF factor also impacts music you will hear on the radio. If the area is grey you will likely hear German marching music while in colored areas jazz, bebop and swing music is playing. Classical music will also be included.
